And here it is. The long expected much anticipated clash of the titans: the Character Battle Royal Finals. Many of you participated and went down, but not these three. Give them a warm applause:

Furious Nick with Janet Van Dyne-Pym
Sirwaka with Raphael the Ninja Turtle!
Thirdraildesignlabs with IronMan!

The participants were asked to follow this set of rules/guidelines: RULES POST

Rules for Voting:
Votes should not be based on which character the voter THINKS should win, but instead which artist showed the best battle between the two characters.

I won't keep you waiting; here is the fight!

Great showing Outcasters!
This is kinda neat to have a three way as the final.
Gives it a extra challenge within the challenge.

Question for Sirwaka on the turtles,
is there a version of the
turtle team all with the same color red gear?
also do they wear a version of the mask that covers to the top of their heads like you have?

Yeah DM, they additional colors of blue, orange and purple for leo, michaelangelo and donatello were added in the cartoon version.
Before that they were all red. And just like ironman has different designs suits, the turtles will have different headwraps ;)

Excellent work you two. These are great pieces filled with WIN!

@SirWaka, I like the fire and smokey feeling in your piece. Your Iron man looks really well done too. The only thing that I see that jumps out is the Turtles (except Raph) all seem kind of anemic to me. Mike and Leo have some thin waists, which make their shells seem off in comparison. Still a damn fine piece. I really like the interaction of Janet and the other turtles too. Outstanding work!

@TRDL, I like the motion and angle of your piece. The Wasp getting her wings clipped is a nice touch. I like the way this came together over all, and that is why I voted for your piece. It was really close, but I liked the way both opponents in TRDL's piece were being taken out. The only crit that I have is dealing with your Iron man. He seems to have more of a panel type armor, and this particular suit is more streamlined. I can't take my eyes off of how busted up Raph's arm is, Tony's not holding back!

@FuriousNick, .... (*Insert crits) procrastination usually helps me perform better under pressure, but this time the clock got away from me. There are other issues besides that, but the bottom line is TRDL and SirWaka really BROUGHT IT and I chocked. I salute you both.

Honestly it has been amazing watching you two duke it out throughout the tourney. These are two beautifully brutal pieces and either of you are worthy of being the next CBR Champion.

I cant decide! I cant help but think Nicks would have been my choice had it been finished it just has the action movie poster look and i hope you finish it.

As for the other two. I just dont know. Both rock. I always feel odd trying to crit art that is far above my own lol so i wont :D

Lots to ponder. No flaws i can see in either. Will have to think on it.

Awesome work all round and i hope the eventual winner will give you a title shot nick!

I suppose next stop is the random teamed tag battles... LOL :D

Nacho Moo, you're too kind. I will probably do so as soon as I get some more supplies.

Don't feel that you cannot offer a crit on someone's art that you feel is above/below your own capabilities. Crits are meant to help an artist grow, and even if that artist doesn't benefit, there are others that might benefit from seeing/hearing your take on improvements on a piece. There are very few egos on this forum that cannot take a solid crit.

Hell I'd be soooo lost if people like DrunkenMaster, Pifalo, Hyperjack, JDCunnard, Sweattshop, Skaramine, Nate, Starkjeter, Ragnaroker, RMansperger and so on had not taken the time to offer up some advice. It does take practice to give a good crit as well as taking a crit. I and many others here are all appreciative of the effort that goes into making a critique, and I'd love for you to give it a try.

I actually do that more than people think. I voted from a place of removing myself as the artist from the equation... then it was pretty easy from there (as to which two artists it would come down to). Bottom line, if I saw these images on a comic rack and could only purchase one, I'd choose one over the others (and then I'd ask the clerks to hold the one I didn't choose until next week) .

Congrats to the three of you for making it this far first off.

Second you guys are just cruel. Forcing me to make this horribly difficult choice. Shame on you three ;)

That being said I gave my vote to Sirwaka. His piece is just down right awesomeness.

Nicky, you would have had my vote if your piece had been just a little more finished. Plus, you beat me out last time so you should win this so I don't look so bad!

Great job TDRL, such a hard decision.

I'm going to go cry now, the pressure has been too much.

In all honesty, y'all are top notch in my book. Best of luck to you.

I've gotta go with Third Rail... that arm BLOWS me away. Especially after busing my arm last year. Yowza!

I do LOVE the other two though, nice action poster, but more of a team up, Nick and Sirwaka, your color is stupendous!

Outstanding work guys!

Fn - if this was finished to your usual standard you would have had my vote. Love the picture just needs a bit more time on it.

Sw - great colour work! Good composition and nice getting the other turtles in there. As mentioned the waists are a bit thin making the shells look a bit tied on.

3rdl - great dynamic action. The proportion of the busted arm is a bit off but still very slickly handled. Got my vote.

I appreciate everyone's comments in this final round! I knew I was taking a risk with such a forced perspective action shot, but I thought it would be fun to try. Cheers to SirWaka for the cool composition of all the turtles surrounding Iron Man, and good on Furious Nick for posting his progress piece that showed such promise. It was an honor to be in the finals with you all.

Please enjoy, hell yes.
