The blurring really makes it all pop. It almost feels three-dimensional! And the softness of the light is just BEAUTIFUL. Gives the scene that surreal atmosphere of early morning or sunset

Thanks, guys (sorry I missed this when you posted, I'm a scatterbrain). Been cranking out pages lately, nothing I can share yet, but here are a few character designs, plus a preview of what the chapter 1 redraw is looking like (yup, I decided to redraw, just got to the point where I couldn't bear looking at the original models for those characters).

I went through this thread and I'm impressed by the development growth of your comic. Your recent character expressions and body language tells alot more about the character and scenes.

Thanks, man; that's one of my favorites (of stuff that I've done, anyway).

Thanks, Roma. This project has pulled me along in a lot of ways; glad it shows some in the work.

I can see why you want to redraw it. But I feel the old version has some charm too. The redrawn characters have a more realistic expression, but the resolute choice for yellows added an atmosphere: the feel of coming out of the cool corridors into the sunlight.
For sure. I still like the *idea* of oil paint backgrounds, and there were places where I really liked them before. But, aside from my limitations with that technique, it was ridiculously labor intensive. Speaking of backgrounds, here are some new panel backgrounds from some recently completed pages:

Another "I'm done!" screenshots to share with you; I've officially started on chapter two, so this (knock on wood) will be the last time that I actually complete chapter 1:

And I reworked the cover with more of an adventure-y vibe; please let me know what you think:

My poor neglected Echo thread... This is an excerpt from the first chapter, which runs about 35 pages, and is currently sitting in limbo on my hard-drive. I had a promising publishing deal for this story lined up, but a bunch of factors pushed it to the sidelines, not the least of which was how long it was taking to produce in this format.
I'm working on a different story with these characters (more info soon), formatted for phones and devices, but I'd love to hear some feedback on this excerpt, so, as always, crits and comments very welcome:
